I doubt the price change has anything to do with whether it's in your cart or not. If you notice a trend of prices increasing after adding them to your cart, I suspect it's simply inflation. If Amazon was really manipulating prices to get more money from people having items in their carts, they'd probably do better to lower the price, so that when you look at your cart you get a message that the price has gone down.
